Innovation Army is an initiative with a youth and community mission; registration, tax approvals and ownership-status evidence have not been publicly verified. We believe every person carries creative answers to the problems around them, and we exist to help them act on those answers.
Innovation Army began with a conviction: South Africa’s biggest challenges already have answers, spread across ordinary people who have never been equipped or invited to act on them.
Founded by Isaiah Engelbrecht, the movement describes workshops and events that help people move an idea from their head into the real world. We call it giving birth to your brainchild, then growing it until it delivers the solution it was meant to.
In Zechariah 1:18–21, four horns scatter a people until no one can lift their head, and then four craftsmen arrive to break them. Our emblem shows those hands at work. Poverty, fear and despair are horns; ideas, skills and courage are the craftsman’s tools.
At our first Brainchild awards in Alberton, nine finalists from a year of community workshops pitched practical solutions. First prize went to a recycling idea that turns litter into income. One finalist in her sixties had carried her idea for forty years.
Read the Brainchild storyThe Launchpad takes the mission public. It connects innovators, communities, funders, companies and problem-solvers, so an idea can move from visibility to support, funding, partnership and delivery.
How it worksA million ideas is an aspiration, not a result. A counted idea would require a unique documented proposal rather than a page view or repeated draft. The baseline, independent counting process, timeframe and target date are not established. As of 30 September 2026, no measured progress total is published.
